Jack Lalaine Power Juicer

I received the Jack Lalaine Power Juicer as a birthday present. I wanted it because it promised quiet operation, quick cleanup, and good-tasting juice. After I put it to use, I found it worked just about as advertised, except for a few things.

The infomercial for the Power Juicer stated that "clean-up is a breeze." Well, no it isn't. First, you have to take apart the juicer, and the separate parts have little ridges in them that you really need to get in and scrub.

And the screen that filters out the juice from the rest of the fruit or vegetable needs both to be scrubbed with a soft sponge and sprayed with the nozzle at your sink.

The other disappointment was that the infomercial states that the juice comes to "pennies per serving." Either their serving size is half an ounce or they consider 1000 pennies to be pennies per serving.

One good-sized tomato gives only about a third of a cup of juice. It takes two decent sized oranges to get half a cup of juice. So pennies per serving really is a little misleading.

On the other hand, the juicer is pretty quiet, it does make good juice, and you don't get a lot of wasted pulp, so on the whole it is a genuinely good product.
